THE MESSAGES OF THE ELEVEN SYMBOLICAL ACTIONS OF JEREMIAH PART ONE
Against this sad backdrop Jeremiah was called to present an unwelcome message: the king of Babylon will come; it is no use even trying to fight his armies or even to escape. What was the reason? God had determined to discipline His people for their sins and the best thing they could do was accept this and trust Him that if they repented then He in His grace would yet lead them into blessing.
PART ONE: A rod of an almond tree. Jeremiah 1:11,12
God, in the vision of the almond branch, indicated that the judgments pronounced upon the Hebrew nation were nearing their fulfilment. “I will hasten My Word to perform it” (Jer. 1:12; Ezek. 7:10-11)
· THOSE WHO HAVE TO UTTER THE TRUTH OF GOD TO OTHERS MUST FIRST SEE IT CLEARLY (1Jhn 1:1-3)
· THOSE WHO CAN SEE THE MIND OF GOD MUST BE PREPARED TO UTTER THE TRUTHS (Mt. 10:27)
· THE MOST CHILDLIKE AND HUMBLE IN SPIRIT SEE BEST INTO DIVINE MYSTERIES (Jer. 1:6; Mt. 18:3-6, Isa. 57:15)
God’s great question to His ministers: “What seest thou?” AND God’s comforting response “thou hast well seen”
Good distinctness in our understanding of the truth will lead to good distinctness in our utterance of it.
1. To answer this question, it must be clear to your own mind, by the spiritual perception which accompanies true faith “I believed, therefore have I spoken”. PS. 116:10, 2 Corinth. 4:13
2. Jeremiah simply sees “a rod of an almond tree”. Similar questions were posted to Amos, Zechariah and John respectively Amos 7:8, Zech 5:2 and Rev. 1:11
3. The devil always target our sights of vision, once he gets it he destroys our entire life. Judges 16:21
4. Continuous rebellious and unrepentant heart leads to God’s punishment Isa. 42:18-20; Is. 6:9-12
5. Behold God’s verdict is here Jer. 1:12 “…I will hasten my word to perform it”
6. Ps. 119:18 open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law
7. Cry out to God to open inner eyes Mark 10:51-52
